Two injured in Wednesday night crash in Pokagon Township

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday night, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 7:42 p.m., deputies responded to a crash that happened on M-51 near Pokagon Highway.

According to the investigation, a Lexus ES350 was approaching the intersection of Pokagon Highway and M-51 when he allegedly ran the stop sign to go north on M-51, according to reports.

A Dodge Durango was driving south on M-51 and allegedly could not avoid the Lexus, resulting in the two vehicles colliding head-on, reports said.  

The driver of the Lexus had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The passenger of the Lexus was also taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Deputies do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles.

This crash is still under investigation.
