Tim Walberg files for re-election, stands without Republican competition

Representative Tim Walberg

JACKSON, Mich. -- Michigan's 5th District Congressman, Tim Walberg, announced that his campaign is now on the ballot for the Aug. 4 Republican primary to retain his Congressional seat.

Walberg announced the completion of his filing on Monday, making him the first and, so far, only Republican candidate to file their paperwork to appear on the ballot.

With the filing deadline ahead on Tuesday, Walberg may face no competition in the Republican Party and be set to defend his seat from Christian Vukasovich, the sole Democrat candidate, as of Monday.
