Three vehicle crash leaves 96-year-old man dead

ABC 57

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the intersection of County Road 657 and 58th Avenue on the report of a multiple vehicle crash at approximately 3:15 p.m.

Upon arriving, the investigation and witness statements showed that a 96-year-old driver of a Ford F150 was traveling eastbound on 58th Avenue when failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with County Road 657.

The Ford F150 went through the stop sign and was t-boned by a Chevy Silverado that was traveling northbound on County Road 657. This sent the Ford F150 into a Nissan NV200 work van that was stopped at the stop sign on west bound 58th Avenue.

The 96-year-old male was partially ejected from the truck as a result of not wearing a seat belt and died on-scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver and passenger of the Chevy Silverado had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Nissan NV200 was uninjured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and this crash remains open at this time.

Names are being withheld at this time pending the notification of kin.
