Three Rivers theft suspect arrested after police pursuit involving stolen vehicle

THREE RIVERS, Mich.— A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended when a suspect crashed into another vehicle while attempting to get onto US 131, according to the Three Rivers Police Department.

On May 12, around 1 p.m., officers with the Three Rivers Police Department were sent to Walmart to help identify a suspect in a shoplifting incident that happened over the weekend.

Store employees reported that the suspect had returned to the store.

Officers found the suspect and brought him to his vehicle, which police learned was stolen. 

The suspect then got into the driver’s seat of the stolen vehicle and drove away from the scene.

Officers followed the suspect as he headed eastbound on Millard towards US 131.

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into another vehicle.

Police took the 23-year-old male suspect into custody and booked him into the St. Joseph County Jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and eluding, obstruction, retail fraud and absconder from parole.
