Three Oaks' early Flag Day celebration continues through Sunday

THREE OAKS, Mich. -- Three Oaks' 73rd Annual Flag Day celebration kicks off Friday night at 8 p.m. with live music and the new "After Dark" parade at 9:30 p.m.
Organizers say the small-town tradition has been recognized as the nation’s largest and longest-running Flag Day celebration.
The celebration will include local makers, food vendors, live entertainment, quirky traditions, and plenty of patriotism and community pride, organizers said.
PS Dump Your Boyfriend will be the main stage concert at the Three Oaks American Legion to kick off celebration Friday at 8 p.m.
Friday night's new parade will be a golf cart parade lit up with patriotic lights and cheers. Registration for the parade is at 9 p.m. at the Three Oaks American Legion Pavilion Post 204.
The early Flag Day weekend schedule is as follows:
Saturday - Family Fun and Community Spirit
- Flag Day Market – 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Local makers, food, art, and more in the heart of downtown.
- Located at Carver Park in downtown Three Oaks
- Pet Parade – 10:30 a.m.
- Located at Carver Park (Check-in at 10 a.m.)
- A family favorite with prizes for Most Patriotic, Best Dressed, and Look-a-Likes.
- USPS New Flag Stamp Unveiling (NEW) - 11:30 a.m.
- A national spotlight for the town as the USPS holds a ceremony for the official new stamp. Available for purchase with a commemorative Three Oaks “First Day of Issue” cancellation.
- A set of five complimentary Flag Day postcards will be available on site as a memento for this occasion.
- Quilts of Valor Ceremony – 1 p.m.
- At Dewey Cannon Park Honoring veterans with handcrafted quilts and recognition.
- Live Music: Donnie Isaacsand PS Dump Your Boyfriend - starts at 6:30 p.m.
- Concerts hosted at the Three Oaks American Legion Post 204 to bring the spirit of Flag Day to life.
- Three Oaks American Legion Fireworks - start at dark, 10:30 p.m.
- A spectacular display that lights up the skies of Three Oaks
Sunday - Parade Day
- Red, White and Poo Fundraiser (NEW) – Noon-2:30 p.m.
- Community members “sponsor” blocks of the parade route as a fundraiser for the 75 Anniversary in 2027.
- Three Oaks Prince & Princess will be at a table on Maple & Elm from 12-2:30pm to register.
- Top 5 winners get a Golden Shovel based on horse “activity” during the parade.
- Parade Opening Ceremony - 2 p.m.
- A moment of reflection for the town as the tradition kicks off. They will also be announcing our the first community “Mighty Oak Award” winner at this event. (NEW)
- The Main Flag Day Parade – 3 p.m.
- The largest Flag Day parades in the nation with over 100 entries, including veterans' groups, marching bands, floats, horses, and vintage vehicles.
- Closing Ceremonies and Final Live Music – around 5 p.m.
- Following the parade, a community gathering and last performances to round out the weekend. Located at the Three Oaks American Legion Post 204.
