Three men convicted for Criminal Sexual Misconduct against 13-year-old

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Michigan State Police announced Friday that three men have been convicted for sexual misconduct again a 13-year-old girl.
Police say the investigation started after a Benton Township drug raid by the Southwest Enforcement Team led to the rescue of a 13-year-old girl.
The girl had been sexually abused and given methamphetamine by the men.
Documents state 25-year-old Johnathon Barrett of Cassopolis was convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct – Third Degree and sentenced to 10-15 years in prison after the year-long investigation.
Fifty-five-year-old Craig Kirksey of Dowagiac was convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct – Third Degree, while 27-year-old James Tovey Jr. of Dowagiac was convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree in 2024.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, Kirksey was sentenced to a minimum of 17 years while Tovey was sentenced to 7 years.
