Three in hospital following single-vehicle rollover crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – Drugs and alcohol are said to be a factor in a single-vehicle crash on State Road 17 north of 20A Road that put three passengers in hospital Wednesday evening.

According to the Marshall County Police Department, the 2006 Monte Carlo was traveling north on SR 17 and ran off the side of the road as it was attempting to pass another vehicle.

Officers say when the vehicle left the roadway, it rolled several times down an embankment. A passenger, 25-year-old Heather Wynn of Culver, was ejected as the vehicle was rolling.

Both Wynn and another passenger, 40-year-old Wanda Gilbert of Andrews, were airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of their injuries.

According to hospital officials, Gilbert is stable but Wynn is currently listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Monte Carlo, 30-year-old Justin Orangias of Culver, was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center of Plymouth for treatment of unknown injuries.

This incident is still under investigation.
