The St. Patrick's Day Parade sees big turnout after last week's reschedule
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Saint Patrick's Day Parade went down in style today in downtown South Bend, with the dyeing of the East Race River green as part of the festivities.
Members of the community packed the streets, after the parade was rained out last Saturday.
"I mean, it's a little delay, so we didn't know how the turnout would be, but, I mean, people of South Bend never disappoint. They got dressed up. People of all ages were out. It was just awesome. I love it. People just still got in the spirit and came together to enjoy. We had the largest number of units like in the parade, so it's really great to have the crowd there and have everybody that's put so much work into decorating their float and preparing their unit for the parade and still be able to move forward. Was great," stated Executive Director for Downtown South Bend Willow Wetherall.
The city also used vegetable dye to make the river green, providing a safe way to fill the water with color.
