SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- For one member of the South Bend Cubs family, known as 'Hales', this season will not be the same as years past.
Instead of helping young players develop their strength, speed, and skills, longtime Hitting Coach, Manager, and Director of the Performance Center in right field Mark Haley, has a rehab assignment of his own, and the team is rallying support around him.
And tonight, Haley is here with his family for Opening Day, telling ABC57 Anchor Brian Conybeare there's no place he'd rather be than the ballpark on a night like this.
