Teen leads Michigan City police in high-speed chase Friday night

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The Michigan City Police Department reports officers responded to the 1100 block of W. US 20 for a reckless driving complaint around 5:30 p.m., Friday.

Police say they attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle.

The report states the suspect failed to stop which led to a pursuit.

The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Santea Wells of Merrillville, eventually stopped on US 20 near N. 300 East in Chesterton.

Wells was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement, a Level 6 Felony, and Operating without Receiving Driver’s License, a Class C Misdemeanor.
