Indiana State Police Bremen Post

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police Bremen Post reports troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of US 6 and S.R. 331 around 9:50 a.m. Thursday.

ISP's initial investigation determined a red Peterbilt semi-truck with trailer was traveling east on US 6 before stopping to wait for westbound traffic to clear to turn left onto the S.R. 331ramp.

At the same time, a silver 2006 GMC pickup truck, driven by a 19-year-old Plymouth man, was also traveling east on US 6.

The truck then crashed into the right rear of the semi's trailer, skidding approximately 190 feet before stopping.

The teen driver was taken to Bremen Hospital before being flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with serious injuries.

The semi-truck driver, a 59-year-old Niles man, was uninjured in the crash.

Eastbound and westbound lanes of US 6 were shut down in the area for the crash investigation and removal of the vehicles.

Both lanes of US 6 reopened at around 11:50 a.m.
