Suspect arrested for threatening violence at local car dealership

St. Joseph County Jail

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A South Bend man has been arrested following an incident at a local car dealership back in December of 2024 where he allegedly made threats of violence toward staff.

According to police, 19-year-old Dameir W. Eaton was car shopping at Gates Chevrolet on East Ireland Road on Dec. 9, 2024, when a disagreement began about financing.

"Upon arriving, officers learned that two customers came into the dealership to purchase a vehicle. They were working with several employees," SJCP said. "When they began the financing portion of the sale, the customers were given inaccurate information about how their credit scores would be affected. Upon learning this [Eaton] stated that he would 'grab [his] Draco and handle it [his] way.'"

Officers were shown surveillance video of the incident and, allegedly, Eaton is seen talking with an employee.

"[The employee] can be heard saying, 'You aint gonna threaten me with no gun.' Eaton can be heard saying, "I didn't say you. I said him," and the later saying, "I'mma **** everything up in this ***** on the dead homies."

On Wednesday night, authorities found and arrested Eaton in the 4000 block of Glenellen Court (Edison Pointe Apartments) in Mishawaka.

He is charged with Intimidation.
