Suspect arrested for Christmas Day burglary and theft

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Starke County Sheriff's Office reports deputies were dispatched to a business on S.R. 23 in the Koontz Lake on the morning of Christmas Day for a report of a man breaking into a garage.

The report states through further investigation it was found that tools had been stolen from the garage.

Deputies were able to retrieve video footage from the business.

On Dec. 26, 52-year-old Clayton Conley of Walkerton was identified as a person of interest.

Later that same evening, deputies found and took Conley into custody during a traffic stop in the Koontz Lake area.

Conley was then taken to the Starke County Jail, and a report was submitted to the Starke County Prosecutor's Office.

Conley is formally charged with Burglary, a Level 5 Felony, and Theft, a Level 6 Felony. 

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
