Rules Committee Meeting devolves into seating argument
NILES, Mich. -- New information has come out about a disturbing video involving Ballard Elementary School students.
Tuesday the superintendent of Niles Community Schools spoke out for the first time about the viral video showing one student attacking another.
The video, filled with lots of cursing and yelling, captures a young boy attempting to hit an older girl's phone out of her hand.
After arguing with each other that fifth grade girl started repeatedly hitting the young male student in the head. Administrators at Niles community schools say two drivers were on the bus, but both were focused on navigating the route and did not hear the fight.
District leaders are now talking about adding new safety measures.
“Some of them may be our disciplinary procedures, but some of it is also counseling or mental health support for some of our students who need it, so we'll take each individual situation and take a look at the needs of the students, both students because we want them to have a successful academic journey," said Daniel Applegate, the Niles Community Schools superintendent.
Now disciplinary action on the student has already occurred which consisted of removing the student from the bus and the school.
