Student disciplined for 'joke' threat to Mishawaka High School

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Parents were notified of a non-credible threat to Mishawaka High School on Tuesday, according to School City of Mishawaka.

School officials say someone reported a potential threat to the high school.

The student was located quickly and admitted to making the threat. The student said it was just a joke.

The student has been disciplined.

The district sent a letter home to parents about the situation.

There were concerns about the extra police presence at the high school, but the district said the officers were already at the school when they learned of the alleged threat.

All potential threats are taken seriously and investigated, the district said.
