Starke County fishermen discover dead alligator in Kankakee River

STARKE CTY, Ind. – Some Stake County fishermen had a surprising find in the Kankakee River.

An alligator measuring 4 feet, 7 inches was found dead with its mouth taped shut. Indiana Conservation officers say it was probably a pet that outgrew its welcome and was released into the river.

That move illegal and requires a permit.
