SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- St. Vincent de Paul Society is seeking donation for its Sweet Dreams Ministry. The program offers beds to children of families in need.
The program started in 2016 when Marian and St. Joseph High School students, who were volunteering at the Society, came across a family of nine children who were all sharing a single bed.
"Many of them couldn’t understand or couldn’t believe there were kids sleeping on the floor," said Anne Watson, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul Society. "These kids really felt like they had to do something."
That feeling led to the students partnering with St. Vincent de Paul to create the Sweet Dreams Ministry. The program works with Comfort Sleep Mattress in Mishawaka to provide full bed sets to children.
The program has two donation drives, during Lent and the back to school season, to try and raise enough money for 40 beds in 40 days. In addition to monetary donations, St. Vincent de Paul is also accepting bed room sets in their original packaging.
