ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, St Joseph and Lakeshore High School's Volleyball teams played their annual Dig Pink program to fundraise money for cancer.
Proceeds from this year's ticket sales, pink t-shirt profits, and on-site raffles will benefit the important work of the Marie Yeager Cancer Center.
Before the start of the game, St. Joseph gave the Cancer Center a $4200 check. According to Paul Kelm, St Joseph Varsity Coach, says that this is the largest amount given to the center since he started in 2009.
"It's important to me because I have had family members that have had, not necessarily breast cancer, but cancer in general. I think it's a good, it's a good event cause like I said it helps raise awareness for it. It helps raise funds to be able to, maybe we can find a cure for this somewhere down the road." Said Kelm.
