ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department announced that the St. Joseph County Jail has begun offering a new optional program for the women in their care to improve their lives by increasing opportunities for personal growth and development.

Officials say the new program, Wells of Inspiration started by Alicia Wells, is just one of many programs being introduced at the jail.

A group of women have already opted to participate, with the first class having already been held.

"Alicia has a passion for recovery and continues to work helping people who are struggling with substance abuse and addiction. I have witnessed several success stories that she has been a part of that have allowed persons struggling with addiction to go into recovery and live a more fulfilling life as well as giving those who struggle to help loved ones personally and those of us who try to assist persons professionally," said Steven G. Noonan, Executive Officer for the St. Joseph County Police Department.

Jail officials say every Friday the women gather to hear from guest speakers who share their insights and experiences.
