SSL train service update to accommodate Lollapalooza attendees

The South Shore Line has released service updates to accommodate passengers attending Lollapalooza, from Thursday through Sunday, in Grant Park.

Thursday and Friday:

  • An extra eastbound train will depart Millennium Station at 10:40 p.m.  and Van Buren Street at 10:43 p.m., before running non-stop to Hegewisch to make all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue.
  • Alcohol is prohibited on SSL trains all day Thursday and Friday, and glass bottles are always prohibited.

Saturday and Sunday:

  • Westbound Train 504 and Train 606 will operate extras for additional capacity for passengers heading to Chicago in the morning. Train 504 and Train 606 and their extras will make all regular stops to Chicago.
  • An extra eastbound train will depart Millennium Station at 8:55 p.m. and Van Buren Street at 8:58 p.m., before running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue.
  • An extra eastbound train will depart Millennium Station at 10:55 p.m. and Van Buren Street at 10:58 p.m., before running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue.
  • Alcohol is prohibited on SSL trains all day, Saturday and Sunday.

Passengers may encounter crowded conditions on trains and should expect an increased NICTD Transit Police presence during Lollapalooza.

SSL reserves the right to remove disorderly passengers.

Officials add disorderly conduct includes, but is not limited to, public indecency/nudity, and drunken or disruptive conduct.
