S.R. 933 roadwork to begin May 18, drainage improvements, new traffic signal included

INDOT

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Roadwork is set to begin on S.R. 933 between S.R. 331 and Ash Road on May 18, says the Indiana Department of Transportation.

INDOT says crews will begin by making storm drainage improvements on the north side of S.R. 933 between Chestnut Street and Ash Road.

S.R. 933 will maintain one travel lane in each direction during this time, but lanes may be narrowed and shifted to the south at times to make more room for work zones. This work is scheduled to last through late July.

During road patching and resurfacing, S.R. 933 will also keep a minimum of one travel lane in each direction. Traffic patterns are expected to change, including narrowing and shifting lanes. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed in work zones.

A new traffic signal is also scheduled to be placed at the intersection of S.R. 933 and Apple Road as part of this work.

INDOT says the new signal will work in conjunction with the intersecting railroad crossing on Apple Road.

This construction project is expected to last through the end of November.

Drivers should allow extra time when traveling through this area.
