Speed restriction for South Shore Line between South Bend and Michigan City

South Shore Line

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Shore Line announced due to the ongoing heat advisory in effect for Northern Indiana through 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, they have implemented a temperature-based speed restriction between Michigan City and South Bend.

The maximum speeds of trains will be decreased to minimize heat-related damage to track and overhead wire.

Passengers should expect about 15 to 20-minute delays for all trains until the speed restriction has been lifted.

Passengers are also asked to be at boarding stations on time in the event delays are less than expected.
