South Shore Line operating weekend holiday schedule Friday due to sub-zero temps
ABC 57 SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Shore Line announced trains will be running on a weekend/holiday schedule Friday due to anticipated sub-zero temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills.
Officials say there will be a Cold Weather Advisory in place beginning at 3 a.m., Friday, in Indiana. In Chicago, an Extreme Cold Warning will be in effect at 3 a.m. Friday, with dangerously cold wind chills as low as -30 to -40 degrees.
Besides operating on a weekend/holiday schedule, the following revisions will be in effect:
- WB Train 102 will operate on its regular weekday schedule Friday, arriving at Millennium Station at 5:32 a.m.
- Weekend EB Tr 609 will extend its route on Friday, operating through South Bend International Airport.
- An extra eastbound train will operate out of Millennium Station on Friday. The extra train will depart Millennium at 4:15 p.m. (Van Buren Street at 4:17 p.m.), make all stops, and terminate at the South Bend Airport.
South Shore officials say maintenance crews will be on stand-by, and employees will work continuously to minimize the severe weather impact.
Passengers are reminded that train delays are possible due to mechanical, rail and/or wire issues that may occur due to the weather.
