South Shore Line offers free rides for children Dec. 26 to Jan. 5
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Shore Line announced it will offer free rides for children 13 and younger all weekend, holiday, off-peak, or rush hour weekday trains when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Up to three children can ride for free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
South Shore officials say they're offering the Kids Ride Free program to say Happy Holidays and take advantage of local school breaks.
Officials say the Quiet Car remains in effect on the last open car of each rush hour train during this time.
Holiday train schedule:
- Tuesday, Dec. 24 – Regular weekday schedule on Christmas Eve.
- Wednesday, Dec. 25 – Weekend/holiday schedule on Christmas Day.
- Thursday, Dec. 26 – Regular weekday schedule.
- Tuesday, Dec. 31 – Regular weekday schedule on New Year’s Eve. Alcohol is prohibited all day and glass bottles are prohibited at all times.
- Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 – Weekend/holiday schedule on New Year’s Day.
