South Bend's Third Annual Senior Spirit Week begins Monday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Venues Parks and Arts announced will host the Third Annual Senior Spirit Week beginning on Monday at the O'Brien Center and the downtown YMCA from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Organizers say learning, exercising, and socializing are activities that enhance lives, so Senior Spirit Week is a great way to focus on the health, wellness, and wholeness necessary at every stage of life.
"This year, we’re excited to include more evening events for seniors of all ages to enjoy,” shares Theodora Phillippou, Howard Park Manager, “Working seniors can look forward to the Senior Sock Hop, Ray Comer Pickleball Classic, and the Happy Hour at the Howard Park Public House Patio, all happening outside of traditional work hours.”
Senior Spirt Week schedule:
- Monday - Try Y Day at the O’Brien Center and the DTSB YMCA (Free), 5 a.m. - 9 p.m.
- Tuesday - Senior Social at the MLK Jr. Dream Center (Free), 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Wednesday - Senior Picnic at Rum Village Nature Park (Picnic tickets sold out), 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Thursday - Let’s Learn at Howard Park, education and fitness classes (Free), 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. with an Info Session & Happy Hour at the Howard Park Public House Patio from 5 – 7 p.m.
- Friday - Let’s Move at Howard Park, fitness and education classes (Free), 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. with a Senior Sock Hop Dance at the Century Center ($10), 6 – 8 p.m.
- Saturday - Ray Comer Pickleball Classic at Boehm Park, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Although the Senior Picnic is sold out, participants can enjoy a free concert at Rum Village Park after the picnic at 1 p.m.
