South Bend Venues Parks and Arts hosting an Arbor Day Celebration

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Venues Parks and Arts will be hosting an Arbor Day Celebration Saturday, October 24.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Leeper Park West by the newly renovated playground.

There will be a tree giveaway by the forestry division of South Bend Venues Parks and Arts. The First 70 people will receive a native Indiana tree to take home.

The City of South Bend is also celebrating becoming a Tree City USA community for 24 years.

“There are so many benefits to be a Tree City USA, especially with it being our 24th year,” said SBVPA Forester, Brent Thompson.

The variety of trees included are:

• Two varieties of Crabapples
• American Hornbeam
• Tulip tree
• Red Oak
• Sycamore
• Baldcypress
• Redbud
• American Elm
