SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Mayor Pete Buttigieg renamed a street in honor of the Four Winds Invitational that tees off on Friday, June 8th.
Mayor Buttigieg was joined by leaders of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians as he named the corner of Michigan and Washington Streets Tuesday.
The ceremonial intersection will temporarily be named “Four Winds Invitational Drive.”
"Just a nice way to recognize something special happening in the community, and certainly the Symetra Tour is something special. It's the pathway to the LPGA, it represents excellence in women's athletics and it's something South Bend's proud to be associated with, that much more so because it also benefits the hospital and it represents our partnership with the tribe - because four winds is such a good sponsor." The South Bend mayor said.
Since the beginning of the tournament, it has raised more than half a million dollars for the Beacon Children’s Hospital.
