SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- South Bend Schools are adjusting to their virtual start to the school year. The 2020-2021 academic calendar started on Wednesday and will be virtual until at least October 5th.
"I think with anything it’s a change from what our teachers had to experience and engage in in the spring," said Brandon White, the Chief Academic Officer for South Bend Schools.
Some of those changes include live instruction for students instead of the on demand options that were available in the spring.
"We want to make sure that our students are having the opportunity to have access to instruction on a daily basis, whether that means live instruction meaning Google Meets," said White.
The administration says that things are running smoothly, but there are some technical difficulties to fix.
"What we’re working on right now are the technology aspects and what we’ve done to combat that is that we’ve initiated a call center through our Edison Technology Center so families can call throughout the day," said White.
The number to that helpline is 574-393-5970.
