South Bend Police Dept. Display K-9 Unit

GRANGER, Ind. -- Man's best friend is helping to keep the city of South Bend safe one paw at a time.

South Bend's K-9 unit was out at Heritage Square Saturday .

The unit was there to show of their safety tactics.

And the dog's partners speak pretty highly of their four legged friends.

"This is phenomenal. This is a great feeling. We think our dogs are pretty darn special and it's nice to see that other people see that as well."  said Sgt. Bryan Miller, one of the head trainers for the department.

The K-9 unit has seven teams and with community support they've raised money for a new training facility.
