Senivpetro SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced there will be free Christmas tree recycling for all residents within city limits until Jan. 29.
Trees will be picked up on the same day as trash pickup.
You can also schedule a tree pickup by submitting a request online or calling 311.
The trees will be turned into mulch and compost.
Residents are asked to follow the guidelines below:
- Remove ornaments, lights, plastic coverings, tree stands, and any metal, including nails. Such items may damage equipment or cause harm to crews.
- Artificial trees, or trees containing metal, glass, or wire will not be collected.
The city will pick up one tree per household as part of the free program.
Additional trees can be removed for a fee of $10 per tree.
Tree pickups scheduled after Jan. 29 will count as the resident’s free monthly yard waste extra pickup.
