City of Goshen set to host International Women’s Day Luncheon
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The co-owners of the South Bend Motor Speedway have announced that the racetrack is for sale.
Current ownership of the speedway says that they are simply too busy to give it the attention it deserves.
"We're just so busy, it's unbelievable, we both work day jobs," said Vernon Sauer, who currently co-owns the racetrack with his brother Kevin. "Busy, busy, busy, and something's got to give a little bit."
The speedway would come fully operational and ready for new ownership for a $1.2 million asking price.
"It comes down to the ambulance, everything in the concessions, radios, tire machines," said Sauer. "Everything you need to turn the key, turn the lights on, and race."
Although the 60-acre property can be used in many different ways, the Sauers hope that whoever buys the land keeps the speedway right where it is.
"What we're hoping for and planning for the most is someone else from the racing community will step up and keep this thing a track," said Sauer. "I don't want to see this thing change from a race track."
The rest of the racing season will finish in its entirety by the Sauers and current staff by the end of August.
