South Bend man sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to firearm offense

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 22-year-old South Bend man will spend over two years in prison after pleading guilty to a firearm offense.

On Aug. 25, The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana sentenced Louis Hampton to 2 years and 3 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.

Hampton pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.

Case documents reveal officers with the South Bend Police Department made a traffic stop on Hampton which led to them locating a firearm with a large capacity magazine in the car.

Hampton was previously convicted of felony criminal recklessness and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
