SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend man faces multiple felony charges for allegedly shooting at an Uber driver.

32-year-old Dreion Walker was taken into custody this week on charges of Attempted Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Recklessness, Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.

The incident happened on December 8, 2025. Court documents state officers were called to the area of Portage Road and Ribourde Drive regarding a possible shooting. Officers allegedly found the victim's car was hit by gunfire multiple times; the victim themself was not.

The victim allegedly told police that they were an Uber driver and had received a pickup request. They alleged the requestor's location on the app was further south than the address they were called to. Officials say the driver saw the requestor's location move, so they drove toward where the requestor appeared to be.

Officials say the victim spotted a man and turned on their dome lights. They allegedly asked if the man was the person they were supposed to pick up; that's when the victim alleges the man drew a gun and started firing. The alleged victim drove away and called police.

Investigators say phone data acquired through Uber, Apple, and T-Mobile eventually connected the rideshare call to Walker. A search warrant of his bedroom and jail property allegedly showed clothes that matched security camera footage taken near the scene.

Officials say iCloud data showed Walker had requested someone to buy a gun for him before the incident took place; he also allegedly took a photo of a gun the same day he requested it. Investigators say they eventually traced the gun as having been purchased for Walker by his brother.

Walker allegedly admitted to ordering the Uber, and that the information provided by the company was his. He also allegedly admitted to having the gun and taking a photo of it. Documents claim he said he disposed of the gun; it is not known how.

Walker was previously convicted of Aggravated Battery in 2016, which made him a violent felon, and thus not allowed to possess a firearm.

There are no future court dates scheduled.
