Marshall County Blueberry Festival creates traditions and memories through generations of families

PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Marshall County Blueberry festival is celebrating 60 years of unique foods, live entertainment, and a long-standing tradition of lighting up the night sky.

The yearly tradition of waving goodbye to the summer season by way of a firework extravaganza at Centennial Park is a tradition like no other, and one that has been passed down through generations of families.

For attendee Ian Claar, it is because of his experience coming as a kid that has kept him coming to the festival for the last 15 years.

“I remember being out here, young and walking on a blanket and watching the fireworks,” Claar said. “It’s cool watching the fireworks grow larger every year. It's neat.”

But now, it is time for Claar to start making some new memories and traditions of his own.

“It’s the first time for me being here and married,” Claar said. “So, I got to bring my wife to the fireworks. She’s never experienced it before.”

It’s because of experiences like this that draw thousands of people from all around Michiana. Many of them, like Claar, are ready to create new traditions inspired by similar ones from when they were kids.
