SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Community Review Board held an open house and community conversation in order to introduce and converse with board members and office members to the residents of South Bend.
Community members started their conversations on the importance of youth police policies.
Attendees talked about ways we can improve deescalation when a student lashes out and police needed to get involved.
The South Bend Community Review Board is hoping they can propose a policy to South Bend Police Department and hope they can prevent a repetition of past incidents.
Charles King III, Director of the Community Police Review Office, stated, "Policy is one of the things that we'll talk about, and today, we're going to kind of focus on youth police policies. So, we had an incident in the past, and we want to make sure that we protect both the community members and the police department. So, this is an opportunity to talk about that policy."
