ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The South Bend Common Council approved nearly one million dollars worth of tax abatements for affordable housing projects across the city.
The four development projects total more than 47 million dollars worth of investment, but not all of them are set in stone just yet.
The four locations include a 50-unit apartment complex at 1202 South Lafayette, a mixed-use development space at the abandoned Monarch Printing building, a four-story complex at the Diamond View Apartments at 504 S. Lafayette Boulevard, and 35 vacant plots throughout the city of South Bend.
If all four projects are approved, more than 160 affordable housing units, as well as dozens of jobs will be created within the city.
