SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The annual Skilled Trades Day for South Bend's Rebuilding Together event was held Saturday where volunteers from various trade unions provided skilled repairs to homes in need.
Approximately 450 skilled tradesmen from different trades organizations in South Bend came out to give repairs in the River Park neighborhood.
Kristen Givens, Program Director of Rebuilding Together, stated, "This type of work when you're kind of giving back and helping our most vulnerable neighbors stay in their homes, when you're the individual volunteering, it kind of feels like, you know, you're doing something for somebody else, but it does something for you as well."
Volunteers can participate in Community Volunteer Day on April 25, which includes tasks like painting and landscaping.
