South Bend Black Expo hosting back-to-school rally for kids
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Chapter Indiana Black Expo (SBCIBE) announced on Friday that its annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive-Thru Rally will be happening on Aug. 3 at the Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church on Adams Street.
"SBCIBE will provide free clear and regular backpacks and school supplies for all K-12 students," organizers said. "Students must be present to receive a backpack and supplies while supplies last."
Free resources for parents will also be available.
Organizers say education sessions will be offered to youth (ages 10+) and parents, and there will be activities for kids under 10.
The event will feature informational vendors, free hair cut vouchers, door prizes and free refreshments.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, but there are options available for those who can't make it Saturday morning.
"Those unable to attend the morning rally can participate in the Drive-Thru from noon to 2 p.m., if supplies are available, first come first served," organizers said.
