Snowy and Cold Sunday, temperatures plunge to start the week

Overcast skies will persist through the afternoon and evening, setting the stage for Sunday’s lake-effect snow showers. Tonight, temperatures will drop into the teens, accompanied by breezy winds. On Sunday, snowier conditions are expected, with lake-effect snow primarily impacting the western counties of Michiana during the first half of the day. As winds shift from northerly to northwesterly throughout Sunday, additional northern counties in Michiana will also experience snowfall.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Berrien County due to anticipated higher snow totals and frigid temperatures. Southwestern Michigan is expected to see the heaviest snow accumulations heading into next week. Temperatures on Sunday will fall to the teens, with further drops to single digits forecasted for Monday and Tuesday.

An Extreme Cold Watch will be in effect from Sunday night through Wednesday morning, as frigid air temperatures fall below zero and wind chills near -20°. Temperatures are projected to gradually rise toward the end of the week.
