Six-vehicle crash leaves multiple people injured in Kosciusko County
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to a multi-vehicle crash with injuries on S.R. 15 south of Southwood Drive on Tuesday around 1:58 p.m.
Authorities' preliminary investigation indicates a 2012 Lincoln MKZ, driven by 28-year-old Larry L. Scripter of Warsaw, was heading south on S.R. 15 and crossed the center line crashing into a 2002 Nissan Frontier, driven by 44-year-old Lilia Martinez of Claypool, and a 2008 Ford F150, driven by 46-year-old Adrian L. Bueno Caeballos of Silver Lake.
A 2003 Peterbilt Semi, driven by 23-year-old Tyce L. Rooney of Columbia City, Ind., then attempted to avoid the initial three-vehicle collision but crashed into Caeballos.
Rooney's semi then overturned and struck a 2015 Chevy Traverse, driven by 29-year-old Austin A. Bryant of Silver Lake.
The report then states a 2017 Ford Escape, driven by 60-year-old Carol S. Burnsworth of Silver Lake, saw the crash and began to brake, attempting to avoid colliding with Caeballos, but was then struck by Bryant after he was struck by Rooney.
Scripter sustained internal injuries and was flown by Lutheran Air to Fort Wayne.
Martinez also sustained internal injuries and was taken to Lutheran Fort Wayne.
Rooney had a complaint of head pain.
Caeballos had a complaint of chest pain.
Burnsworth and Bryant were uninjured.
The crash is under investigation by the KCSO FACT Team.
