UPDATE: Two dead identified after standoff in Goshen Wednesday afternoon

GOSHEN, Ind. -- UPDATE: Goshen Police announced the identities of the two people left dead after Wednesday's standoff.

The deceased are 30-year-old Sabrina Lieb and 36-year-old Elisha Smith.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.

There are no further details currently.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities say a call of shots fired near the intersection of W. Lincoln Avenue and Huron Street in Goshen came in around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The Goshen Police arrived at the scene due to an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound. When they arrived, they were made aware of a male subject and two children in the house.

The male subject showed a weapon and the police retreated, removing both children in the process. Officers started communication and the Elkhart County SWAT team was called in to assist.

Eventually communication was lost after negotiators tried to solve the situation.

The SWAT team entered the home and found two deceased individuals.

Authorities originally reported a 41-year-old man, and a 36-year-old woman were found, and their names are currently being withheld until their families are informed.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit will release any additional information as it is revealed.
