NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- A sexual assault was reported on the campus of Saint Mary's College on Aug. 27 around 11 p.m.

The Director of Campus Safety sent an email regarding the incident to students using a Timely Warning notification.

The email informed students the victim was on a date with the suspect when it occurred.

The suspect was identified and is not a member of the tri-campus community, according to college officials.

October is Relationship Violence Awareness month, and college officials say it marks a time of year called "The Redzone." "The Redzone" is the first six weeks of the school year that students are most likely to be assaulted.

On Oct. 6, Saint Mary's will hold its sixth Raise Your Voice Symposium to talk about sexual violence, raise awareness of its impact, and support women who speak up.
