Severe storms bring tornadoes and damage to parts of Michiana

MICHIANA -- Multiple lines of severe thunderstorms moved through the Michiana area this evening.

  One confirmed tornado was spotted in LaGrange County, while a separate unconfirmed tornado was spotted in Mishawaka near Grape and Douglas Road.

 The National Weather Service is planning two separate surveys tomorrow to evaluate damage in LaGrange and St. Joseph County.        

 South Bend recorded 1.79 inches of rain today, which is a new daily rainfall record for Sept. 24 in South Bend history.

 Damage has been reported in Northeast LaGrange County, although more areas are likely impacted by the severe weather.
