UPDATE: On Thursday, the Benton Township Police Department revealed the serious injury crash became fatal with the death of a 73-year-old man.

Around 4:16 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the car vs. motorcycle crash, finding the 73-year-old on the ground with a serious head injury.

The man was taken to Corewell Health, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle is cooperating with the department's investigation and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. According to the department, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

It happened July 8 on Mall Drive, in front of the Walmart and Lowe's.

The area is currently closed to traffic.
