LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind.—A semi-truck carrying about 44,000 pounds of Nutella cocoa spread crashed on I-94 near the mile 45 marker on September 16 around 9:30 p.m., according to Indiana State Police.

Police say a semi-truck from Canada driven by Chuhar Singh was traveling westbound on I-94 when Singh reports that the car in front of him “slammed on their brakes,” causing Singh to brake hard and lose control of the semi-truck.

The semi-truck struck a concrete median barrier head on, causing the truck and trailer to overturn, which blocked all three lanes of traffic for over two hours, police said.

Singh was not injured but the truck leaked about 150 gallons of diesel onto the median.
