SOUTH BEND, Ind. - While South Bend's Seitz Park still under construction, officials say parts of the park may be open in just a few months.
The park, a community staple in South Bend, is getting a massive facelift.
Construction, which started over three years ago in August 2019, is finally nearing completion, and portions of the park will be open to the public by this fall.
"We’re grateful to the community for their patience during these construction projects, we know we’ve taken things offline, and people can’t enjoy them when it’s under construction, but this will pay strong dividends when it’s done," said Aaron Perri, Executive Director for South Bend Venues, Parks & Arts.
The expanded park will feature some of things that are familiar to neighbors and families.
"The Firefighter Memorial is back, the River Lights will be back, the band show will be back," Perri said.
When all is said and done, it'll also boast a significant number of new amenities.
