SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A memorial to honor local firefighters, whose lives were taken in the line of duty, will be temporarily moved due to renovation.
The memorial includes the names of all fallen South Bend Firefighters and will be temporarily placed into storage to accommodate the park's renovation.
A ceremony was held to honor the spirits of the fallen.
South Bend Fire Department Captain Gerald Ellis said, "We wanted to put together a little ceremony just to honor the fallen firefighters from the city of South Bend because the memorial will be taken down and in the near future, put back up."
The memorial will be carefully taken apart and put back together once construction is completed.
