Section of California Road to temporarily close for utility work in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Road Department reports California Road between Snow Road and the Lake Street will be closed starting at 8 a.m., Saturday, for utility work.

Officials expect the work to be completed by the end of the day on Sunday, depending on work progression.

The utility work is to install a water main, and motorists are asked to seek alternative routes until the road has been reopened.

The recommended detour is Snow Road to Gast Road to Lake Street/W. Shawnee Road back to Church Street/California Road.

Motorists using California Road next week should expect shoulder closures to be in place until restoration work is completed.

Officials anticipate California Road to open for normal use on Monday, Oct. 14.
