When do we see our last dusting of snow?
DOWAGIAC, Mich.-- The Holiday season has arrived, with the second annual tree lighting event at Beckwith Park in Dowagiac, Michigan.
Over a hundred community members came to witness the lighting of the tree and enjoyed the festive atmosphere this evening at 6 P.M.
Beginning last year as an event to raise money for Decorate Dowagiac, the department responsible for holiday decoration efforts, it has become a new holiday tradition.
"It's a kickoff to our holiday celebration, which starts also tomorrow. We have our retailers and restaurants having promotions all weekend." Says Matthew Money of Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce. "We have Santa here tomorrow from 10:00 to 2:00, and live reindeer right here in Beckwith Park. Our tree lighting tonight was presented by XFINITY and Decorate Dowagiac, a committee that has been raising money to put lights and decorations throughout the city."
