Berrien County Sheriff's Office working to launch new app

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Berrien County Sheriff Chuck Heit announced that a new app is being developed for residents to use.

In partnership with TheSheriffApp.com, Berrien County is planning to launch a new sheriff's office app that will be free to download.

The app will include a combination of the following features:

  • Push notifications/alerts
  • News & Press Releases
  • Jail/Inmate Information
  • Resources and informational blogs
  • Contacts
  • Custom forms
  • Appointment reminders
  • Maps showing locations of city resources
  • Sex Offenders List
  • Checklists
  • Social media
  • Post and app sharing
  • National Weather Service integration

Representatives with TheSheriffApp.com say once the county finalizes the order, it will take six to eight weeks to develop and complete the new Berrien County Sheriff's Office App. After approval from app stores like Apple and Google, which usually takes three to ten days, it will be available to the public.
